GABANNA
Fleet Week Round 2!
When a hot Marine invites you to a free power hour in the
city you don’t say no. Dolce and I
headed back into the city and met up with Becky so we could go back to the Mean
Fiddler for Power Hour with the boys.
Mike texted me as we were walking toward the bar to tell me
that he was going to be late because one of his friends was having issues with
his wife.
“Yessss now we can find new boys!” Oh Dolce. Sadly for us
that was not the case. The second Becky, Dolce and I walked into the bar we
were recognized.
“Hey! We know you!” A bunch of Marines that we met the last
time we were in the city were already there. And as my luck would have it one
of them came up to me and said: “Oh you’re the girl Ryan is talking to!”
What? “No, I’m talking to Mike.”
“No, you’re talking to Ryan.”
“No, Mike.” Luckily for me being the camera whore that I am,
I whipped out my phone to show him a picture. “This is Mike right?”
After looking at the picture and then looking at me as if I
had five heads he said, “Ohh…yeah…we just call him Ryan for fun...”
“Wait, why?” My interrogation was interrupted by the arrival
of beer and shots of Patron.
Oh boy. Several beers and shots later Mike finally showed
up. He saw me with his friends and his face lit up, and as he grabbed me to
pull me in for a hug my drunken self apparently thought it was the perfect time
to ask him, “What’s your name?”
That smile was gone in an instant and I immediately cursed
myself and started rambling. “I thought you told me it was Mike but then your
friend said it was Ryan and then he said he was kidding and that they just
called you Mike for fun so I’m really confused and maybe I’m wrong but I
couldn’t really hear anything last time so what’s your name?”
Apparently he thought my drunkenness was adorable and told
me that it was Ryan (failll). We talked and danced the whole night while I took
turns helping Dolce talk to two guys; whenever she talked to one guy I had to
distract the other and vice versa. I also had to keep telling Mike/Ryan that I
was helping her out so he wouldn’t get jealous while he told me which guy he
thought was hotter. (In case you forgot, Mike/Ryan is bi.)
You all need to know that I’m a very social drunk. So when
some random guy asked me to dance I said yes, and then I immediately changed my
mind. The guy got kind of pissed off and started to yell at me, at which point
Mike/Ryan came to my rescue and started yelling back. We were immediately
surrounded by Marines and Sailors and I was dragging Mike/Ryan away from the
fight while Dolce attempted to calm down the other guy. Unfortunately my guy
was a hot-head and I had to drag him outside and talk to him about random
things until he was good to go.
By that point I was starving and I ran inside to Dolce to tell her that I needed food. She had met up with her British sailor from the other night and Becky had a guy so we decided to go to Blockheads to get some food. About ten of us stumbled through the streets until we got to the restaurant where we chugged margaritas and ate burritos until we couldn’t move. Best part of dinner: we did not have to pay. Those chivalrous Marines covered our tab and we skipped out of the restaurant as happy girls.

Sadly for us the boys had to be back on the boats early, and
as we walked back it began to downpour. In our drunken states Dolce and I
thought it was the coolest thing ever while Becky and the boys tried to put us
in a cab.
“NO!” We finally convinced them to walk and Mike/Ryan and I
walked hand in hand all the way back to the boat.
Once we got back to the docks I tried to sneak on the boat
but I definitely did not blend in as much as I thought in my bright red dress
surrounded by those men in uniform. After kissing goodbye Dolce, Becky and I
waved at the hundreds of Sailors and Marines as the boarded the boats.
“You’re welcome!”
“See you next year!”
Even though this kid seemed perfect in every way I knew it
would never last. He was cute, funny, free-spirited and open, and I was
intrigued by him. In case you couldn’t tell from reading this blog Dolce and I
meet a lot of assholes. Mike/Ryan was a breath of fresh air and I intended on
taking full advantage of playing in the rain and living in the moment with my
new friend.
We still talk and he tells me that he misses me and wants to
visit, and I humor him and tell him I miss him too and how cool it would be if
he came to visit but I know it’ll never happen. He’s the guy who will text me
and tell me I’m pretty and give me that extra boost of confidence when I need
it.
In one of his texts he also mentioned that when he came to
visit he was bringing a ring…
HA! Yeah right.
Moral of the Story
-Always go back for round 2, you might get a free dinner out
of it.
-Have them write their name in your phone so you don’t call
him Mike when his name is Ryan
-Don’t think too far ahead, sometimes you just need to live
in the moment and not worry about where the road will take you.
